The collaboration sees D3O launching the D3O In&motion Back Protector: a new, complementary CE Level 2 certified back protector to sit within In&motion smart wearable airbag systems. The innovation gives In&motion airbag technology users access to market-leading impact protection from D3O and is now available for use by motorcycle brand partners.
The new Level 2 offering meets the stringent requirements of the world’s most prominent race organizations, including those behind the Dakar Rally and MotoGP. Safety is at the forefront of the mind of motorcycle racers, on and off-road: to address this, the In&motion airbag system is composed of a detection device inflating the airbag when sensing losses of balance and perfecting the prediction of falls, and a back protector serving to protect in all circumstances. The combination of the Level 2 D3O back protector with the In&motion airbag provides users with the confidence that one of the most susceptible areas of the body - their back - is protected in the most extreme circumstances by the leaders in the industry.
The D3O back protector is offered within partner brand products utilizing In&motion smart wearable airbag systems and can be retrofit into existing In&motion systems. Alongside proven Level 2 protection according to EN1621-2:2014, it offers the unparalleled comfort, breathability and low profile characteristics of D3O, thanks to a ventilated geometry and whilst being of similar thickness to the level 1 back protector. The back protector is also developed with durability and ultimate compatibility with the In&motion system in mind thanks to high-end materials and an over-molded design of the In&motion Inflator clamp.
Together, the two technologies provide users with the highest, most reliable level of protection on the market, keeping them protected across multiple types of impact and providing the reassurance needed when hitting the road, track or trail. The D3O In&motion Back Protector complements D3O’s range of back protectors, which includes the iconic Viper and the recently launched BP4.
